When I first started the Lean Mommas Club, my focus was on workouts and getting fit — helping the crazed mom who needed to lose the baby weight. I wanted everyone to know how important staying fit is for their health and longevity. There is an epidemic of obesity in this country, and if we can help one person at a time to get back to good health, then I was on board.
However, this club has taken a different path.
I still 100% believe in good health and staying fit, but in talking to many people along the way, I learned that most people suffer emotionally. I’m not going into the areas of physical or psychological suffering, but rather the emotions of suffering — feelings of loss, despair, depression, loneliness, unworthy, unappreciated, undervalued — UNLOVED.
It came to me that there is an underlying theme here — one that may be the very reason why so many have unhealthy eating habits and poor body image. Suffering is causing us to suffer!!
So I turned my gears towards CONNECTIONS, building relationships, sharing and caring. It became my mission to reach out to at least 5 – 10 people each day to say hello, I love you, you are worthy, you are loved — and the impact has been astounding.
We all want to feel ATTACHED, CONNECTED, JOINED, PART OF A COMMUNITY.
We all want to feel loved.
An Australian study of 1,200 adults published in the Journal of Clinical Nursing in March 2016 found that nearly a third of respondents reported being lonely.
Among the findings:
–Thirty-five percent reported being lonely.
–Men were more likely than women to report being lonely.
–People who said they had “strong religious beliefs” were less likely to report being lonely.
–People with higher incomes reported less loneliness.
The researchers included William Lauder, PhD, RMN, a professor at the nursing and midwifery school at Australia’s University of Dundee.

- Monthly fitness groups to help you kick the bad habits and reach your fitness goals. Ready to shed those last 10 lbs? Do you have a wedding that you want to wear a knock-out dress? Push yourself to reach your next accomplishment!
One group at a time is recommended so that you put all your attention on the main goal.
